WHO IS BYRON?
Byron Stewart was first elected to Fort St. John City Council in 2011, was reelected in 2014 and is now seeking support from the community for a third term.
Byron’s goal is to continue his commitment to actively build our community through cooperation, collaboration, clear and concise communication, thoughtful short term and long term decision making and sound business ethics.
Byron draws from a diverse background of experience in his work as City Councillor, youth offender counsellor, probation interviewer, recreation programmer, theatre manager and working with families involving funeral services. His experience, paired with education in social services, criminology and recreation speak to his interests and commitment to community well-being and the residents.
While on council, Byron has served as a Director for the Peace River Regional District, North Peace Airport Society, North Peace Leisure Pool Commission and was a member of the City of Fort St. John – BC Hydro Joint Planning Committee for Site C.
Over the years, Byron has enjoyed being involved on various North Peace community boards including the Association for Community Living, Big Brothers & Sisters, and Fort St. John Mixed Slow Pitch Society to name a few. Byron currently serves as Director of North Peace Kidsport on the Fort St. John & District Sports Council as well as the Fort St. John Sport Celebration Wall Committee.
Byron moved with his family to Fort St. John from Churchill, Manitoba in 1974 and has been a proud member of the community ever since. He enjoys arts, culture, sport & recreation activities as well as spending time with his friends, family, and beautiful wife Lisa. Byron has an appreciation for hats, colourful socks, and the sound of people laughing and enjoying life.
